Tonkin (Bắc Kỳ dalam Vietnam), juga dieja Tongkin, Tonquin atau Tongking, adalah bahagian paling ke utara Vietnam, di selatan wilayah Yunnan dan Guangxi China, ke arah timur bahagian utara Laos, dan barat Teluk Tonkin. Dalam bahasa tempatan Bắc Kỳ, bermakna "Kawasan Utara". Tonkin terletak delta subur di Sungai Merah yang kaya dengan pengeluaran beras.
