Selonggok batu tanzanit mentah dengan sebiji permata yang tergilap darinya

Tanzanit (formula: (Ca2Al3(SiO4)(Si2O7)O(OH)) + (Cr,Sr)) ialah sejenis batu permata diperolehi daripada galian zoisit dengan kandungan surih vanadium yang menyebabkan warna kebiruan dan kenilaan.[1] Batu ini hanya dapat dijumpai dalam suatu lombong kecil berhampiran Bukit Mererani di Kawasan Manyara utara Tanzania;[2] lombong ini hanya berukuran 7 km (4.3 bt) panjang dan 2 km (1.2 bt) lebar.[3]
