Sel beta
Sel beta merujuk kepada sejenis sel yang terdapat pada islet of Langerhans di kelenjar pankreas. Fungsi utama sel beta ialah menghasil dan merembeskan insulin, sejenis hormon yang mengawal tahap glukosa (gula) darah.
Selain insulin, sel beta juga menghasilkan peptida-C yang dianggap produk sampingan penghasilan insulin. Pengukuran tahap peptida-C dapat memberi gambaran tentang jisim sel beta yang hidup.
