Satrap

Satrap (bahasa Parsi: ﺳﺎ تراپ) adalah satu nama yang diberi kepada gabenor wilayah di Median dan Empayar Achaemenid (Parsi) purba dan beberapa negara yang mengantikannya, seperti Empayar Sassanid dan empayar Hellenistic.

Perkataan satrap juga digunakan di dalam kesusasteraan moden bagi merujuk kepada para pemimpin dunia atau gabenor yang dipengaruhi kuat oleh kuasa besar dunia yang lebih kuat atau hegemoni dan bertindak sebagai penganti mereka.
