Post-rock merupakan satu bentuk rock eksperimental[3] yang dicirikan oleh tumpuan kepada penerokaan tekstur dan timbre ke atas struktur lagu rock tradisional, kord, atau riff.[4] Seniman post-rock sering beralatan,[5][6][3] biasanya menggabungkan instrumentasi rock dengan elektronik.[3] Genre ini muncul dalam senario muzik indie dan bawah tanah pada 1980-an dan awal 1990-an. Walau bagaimanapun, disebabkan oleh pengabaian konvensyen rock, ia sering mempunyai sedikit persamaan dari segi muzik dengan rock indie kontemporari,[6] sebaliknya meminjam daripada pelbagai sumber termasuk ambien, electronica, jazz, krautrock, dub, dan klasik minimalis.[3]
