Ia terletak di tengah-tengah Rue de Rivoli, di persimpangan dengan Rue des Pyramides dan Avenue du General Lemonnier, di hujung timur Kebun Tuileries.

Dataran itu dinamakan sempena jalan, Rue des Pyramides, dan jalan itu dinamakan untuk Pertempuran Piramid, pertempuran kemenangan Napoleon yang berlaku di Mesir pada tahun 1798.

Huraian

Sebuah akademi menunggang di bawah Antoine de Pluvinel, squire kepada Henry III, Henry IV dan Louis XIII, telah ditubuhkan di kawasan ini pada abad ke-16. Dikenali sebagai "Le Pluvinel", ini adalah pelopor sekolah berkuda klasik, dan ia diperingati dengan plak di atas pintu masuk ke restoran Hôtel Regina.[1]

Gangsa emas patung ekuestrian Jeanne d'Arc di dataran ini telah dibina oleh Emmanuel Frémiet pada tahun 1874.
