Paragaleus ialah genus yu jelu dalam keluarga Hemigaleidae. Ahli-ahlinya mempunyai muncung bulat atau runcing sedikit, lekah insang pendek, dan mulut melengkung luas. Gigi atasnya mempunyai kuspa yang panjang, dan tiada ruang tanpa gigi berlaku pada baris tengah rahang. Sirip dorsal dan pelvis serta lobus ekor bawah tidak berbentuk sabit. Spesies fosil yang diketahui termasuklah P. pulchellus dan P. antunesi.
