ORCID merupakan kod khas yang merujuk kepada seseorang yang menulis artikel akademik. ORCID merupakan singkatan kepada Open Researcher and Contributor ID.[1] Kod ORCID bagi setiap individu adalah unik dan berbeza dari satu sama lain.[1][2] ORCID memudahkan untuk mengetahui artikel-artikel yang ditulis oleh pengarang, walaupun pengarang tersebut menukar namanya. [1] Ia juga membantu membezakan pengarang yang mempunyai nama yang sama.[1]
