Limfa

Limfa (daripada Latin lympha, bermaksud "air") ialah cecair yang mengalir melalui sistem limfa, sistem yang terdiri daripada saluran limfa (saluran) dan nodus limfa perantara yang fungsinya seperti sistem vena, iaitu untuk mengembalikan cecair daripada tisu untuk diedarkan semula. Pada asal proses pengembalian cecair, bendalir luar sel (interstitial) —cecair yang berada di antara sel-sel dalam semua tisu badan[1] —masuk ke kapilari limfa. Cecair limfa ini kemudiannya diangkut melalui saluran limfa yang semakin besar melalui nodus limfa, lalu bahan-bahan akan dikeluarkan oleh limfosit tisu dan limfosit yang beredar ditambah ke dalam cecair, sebelum akhirnya dikosongkan ke dalam vena subklavian kanan atau kiri kemudiannya bercampur dengan darah vena pusat.
