Kronosaurus antara pliosaur paling besar dan pemangsa hebat dalam laut. Tengkoraknya kira-kira satu perempat daripada panjang badan. Leher pendek, dan mempunyai empat sirip kuat serta berbadan langsing. Rahang tiga segi membariskan gigi berbentuk kon yang berukuran 7 hingga 30 sentimeter. Gigitannya sangat menggerunkan.
Saiznya kira-kira 10 meter. Kebanyakan fosilnya ditemui di Queensland, Australia.
