Pokok Kelat ialah satu spesies tumbuhan dalam famili Myrtaceae yang berasal dari Asia Tropika. Pokok ini biasa terdapat dekat paya bakau. Nama botaninya Eugenia oleina.


Ciri-ciri fizikal

Ciri-ciri fizikal Pokok Kelat adalah seperti berikut:

  • Kulit kayu: Berwarna perang kekelabu-kelabuan dan sedikit berkelupas.
  • Daun: Berbentuk empat segi panjang, keras, dan pada kedua-dua permukaannya, mempunyai kelenjar-kelenjar mikroskopik yang berwarna hitam.
  • Bunga: Berwarna putih, dan seringnya berumpun pada hujung dahan-dahan.
  • Buah: Kecil, berbentuk buah pear, berwarna merah tua ketika mentah, tetapi menjadi hitam apabila masak. Buah ini yang mempunyai banyak jus mengandungi hanya sebiji biji.
