James Edward Meade, CB, FBA (23 Jun 1907 - 22 Disember 1995) ialah seorang ahli ekonomi British dan pemenang Hadiah Peringatan Nobel dalam Sains Ekonomi 1977 bersama dengan ahli ekonomi Sweden Bertil Ohlin atas sumbangan mereka terhadap teori perdagangan antarabangsa dan pergerakan modal antarabangsa.
Meade dilahirkan di Swanage, Dorset. Beliau berpendidikan di Malvern College dan menghadiri Oriel College, Oxford pada tahun 1926 untuk membaca Greats, tetapi beralih kepada Falsafah, Politik dan Ekonomi dan memperoleh yang pertama. Kepentingannya dalam bidang ekonomi meningkat daripada tahun pascasiswazah yang berpengaruh di Christ's College, Cambridge dan Trinity College, Cambridge (1930-31), di mana beliau sering mengadakan perbincangan dengan ahli ekonomi terkemuka termasuk Dennis Robertson dan John Maynard Keynes.
