Gerhard Carl Schmidt (5 Julai 1865 – 16 Oktober 1949) ialah seorang ahli kimia Jerman.
Kehidupan
Schmidt dilahirkan di London kepada ibu bapa Jerman. Beliau mempelajari kimia pada 1890 menerima PhD untuk Georg Wilhelm August Kahlbaum. Pada tahun 1898, dua bulan sebelum Marie Curie, Schmidt mendapati bahawa torium ialah radioaktif.[1] Schmidt meninggal dunia akibat angin ahmar di Münster pada 16 Oktober 1949.[2]
