Facebook Aquila
Facebook Aquila ialah pesawat udara tanpa pemandu khas yang direka oleh Facebook untuk menyediakan rangkaian pemancar dari ketinggian pada daerah yang belum menerima akses internet. Projek ini direka oleh Facebook pada 2014 dengan berlandaskan inisiatif Internet.org dan melakukan ujian penerbangan pertama pada 28 Jun 2016. Pada 26 Jun 2018, Pengarah Kejuruteraan Facebook, Yael Maguire memutuskan untuk tidak mereka dan menerbangkan pesawat tanpa pemandu kerana adanya keterbatasan teknikal di Bridgewater.[1][2]
Reka bentuk
Dalam proses pengujian, Facebook menyematkan banyak sensor di tubuh pesawat ini. Sepanjang tempoh pengujian, Aquila dengan berat 400 kilogram terbang selama 1 jam 46 minit di atas ketinggian 3.000 kaki atau sekitar 910 meter.[3]
