EGL ialah antara muka bagi API pelukisan Khronos (seperti OpenGL, OpenGL ES atau OpenVG) dengan sistem peningkapan asli dibawahnya. EGL mengendali pengurusan konteks grafik, pengikatan permukaan/timbalan, penyerentakan lukisan, serta membolehkan "lukisan mod campuran 2D dan 3D yang dipercepatkan lagi berprestasi tinggi menggunakan API-API Khronos yang lain."
Pelaksanaan
- Mesa ialah satu pelaksanaan perisian bebas dan sumber terbuka bagi banyak API rendering grafik; antaranya ialah EGL.
- Generic Buffer Management ialah API untuk mengurus penimbal (buffer).
