Chlef (Arab: الشلف) ialah ibu kota Wilayah Chlef, Algeria. Terletak di utara Algeria, 200 kilometer (120 bt) barat ibu kota, Algiers, ia diasaskan pada 1843, sebagai Orléansville, di atas runtuhan Roman Castellum Tingitanum. Pada tahun 1962, ia telah dinamakan semula sebagai al-Asnam, tetapi selepas gempa bumi yang dahsyat pada 10 Oktober 1980,[2] ia telah membawa nama sekarang, Chlef, yang berasal daripada nama Sungai Chelif, sungai terpanjang di Algeria.
