Cardano ialah platform blok rantai awam. Ia merupakan sumber terbuka dan terdesentralisasi, dengan konsensus dicapai menggunakan bukti pegangan. Ia boleh memudahkan transaksi peer-to-peer dengan mata wang kripto dalamannya, ADA.[1]

Cardano diasaskan pada 2015 oleh pengasas bersama Ethereum Charles Hoskinson. Pembangunan projek itu diselia dan diselia oleh Yayasan Cardano yang berpangkalan di Zug, Switzerland.[2][3] Ia merupakan mata wang kripto terbesar untuk menggunakan rantaian blok bukti pegangan, yang dilihat sebagai alternatif yang lebih hijau kepada protokol bukti kerja.[4]
