Batu api (Tulisan Jawi: باتو اڤي) adalah sejenis galian kuarza bentuk kriptohabluran batuan enapan keras,[1][2] yang dikategorikan sebagai sejenis rijang. Ia muncul terutamanya sebagai nodul dan massa dalam batuan enapan, seperti kapur dan batu kapur.[3][4] Di dalam nodul, batu api biasanya berwarna kelabu gelap, hitam, hijau, putih atau coklat, dan selalunya mempunyai penampilan berkaca atau berlilin. Lapisan nipis di luar nodul biasanya berbeza warna, lazimnya putih dan bertekstur kasar. Dari sudut pandang petrologi, "batu api" merujuk secara khusus kepada bentuk rijang yang muncul dalam kapur atau batu kapur. Begitu juga, "rijang biasa" (kadang-kadang dirujuk sebagai "chert") muncul dalam batu kapur.
