Alligator ialah genus buaya iaitu reptilia besar dalam keluarga Alligatoridae order Crocodilia.[1] Buaya-buaya jenis ini mempunyai jongor yang lebih lebar dan berhujung bulat atau tumpul berbanding buaya-buaya lain dalam ordernya.[2][3] Terdapat dua spesies dalam genus ini yang masih wujud: Alligator mississippiensis dan A. sinensis.[4]
