AkashA

AkashA ialah sebuah kumpulan muzik fusion/rock Malaysia yang menggabungkan unsur muzik Melayu, India, Cina dan Barat.[1]

Kumpulan ini ditubuhkan pada tahun 2008 apabila beberapa bekas ahli kumpulan fusion Prana dan Inner Space berkumpul untuk Festival Muzik Hutan Hujan Sedunia di Sarawak.[2]

Ahli terasnya terdiri daripada Jamie Wilson (gitar), Kumar Karthigesu (sitar), Eric Li (papan kekunci), Greg Henderson (bass), Vick Ramakrishnan (tabla), Sivabalan Shanmuga Sundram (mridangam) dan Badar Fawzi Ben Taleb (perkusi).[3]

Mengambil pengaruh daripada kumpulan Shakti pada era 1970-an, AkashA telah mengeluarkan dua album, iaitu Into… AkashA (2009) dan Karakoram Highway (2011).[4]

Antara karya terkenalnya ialah Bourbon Lassi, Ants In My Turban, Esperanto, Brickfields Blues, Chasing The Camel dan Ipoh Hor Fun.[5] Kebanyakan lagu mereka ditulis oleh Jamie Wilson.[6]

Sepanjang kerjaya mereka, AkashA telah membuat persembahan di lebih daripada 200 konsert dan festival di seluruh dunia.[7]
