Taruga

Taruga estas arkeologia loko en Niĝerio fama pro la artefaktoj de la Nok-kulturo kiuj estis malkovritaj tie, kelkaj el kiuj datas el 600 a.K., kaj pro pruvaro de tre frua prilaborado de fero.[1] La loko estas 60 km sudoriente de Abuĝo, en la Meza Zono.[2]

Tie oni trovis terakotajn figurojn kaj ceramikon ornamitajn per punktoj, linioj kaj geometriaj elementoj. En la 1960-aj jaroj, oni trovis ferrubon kun radiokarbonaj datoj el ĉirkaŭ la 4-a kaj la 3-a jarcentoj a.K.[3][4] Prilaborado de fero en tiu loko estis nune firme datita el 600 a.K., ducent jarojn antaŭ tio ekis en Katsina-Ala, alia Nok centro.[5] Tiu estas la plej frua konata dato por prilaborado de fero en Sub-Sahara Afriko.[6]
