La Orienta gorilo (Gorilla beringei) estas specio de la genro Gorilla kaj la plej granda vivanta primato. Nune, la specio estas subdividata en du subspecioj. La Orienta gorilo de malaltaj teroj (G. b. graueri) estas plej abunda, kun ĉirkaŭ 5,000 individuoj.[1] La monta gorilo (G. b. beringei) havas nur ĉirkaŭ 700 individuojn. Aldone, sciencistoj estas konsiderante altigi la populacion de la Buindiaj goriloj (kiuj nombras ĉirkaŭ duone de la montgorila populacio) al la rango de subspecio.
