La mugiloj aŭ grizaj mugiloj estas familio (Mugilidae) kaj ordo de aktinopterigoj troviĝantaj tutmonde en marbordaj moderklimataj kaj tropikaj akvoj, kaj ĉe kelkaj specioj en nesala akvo.[1] Mugiloj utilis kiel grava nutraĵo en Mediteranea Eŭropo ekde la epoko de la Roma Imperio. Tiu familio inkludas ĉirkaŭ 80 speciojn en 17 genroj, kvankam duono de la specioj estas nur en du genroj (nome Liza kaj Mugil).
Mugiloj distingiĝas pro esto de du separataj dorsaj naĝiloj, malgrandaj triangulaj buŝoj, kaj manko de flankalinia organo. Ili manĝas restaĵojn kaj plej specioj havas malkutimajn muskolajn stomakojn kaj komplikan faringon kiu helpas digeston.[1]
