Howard aliĝis al la grupo Ted Healy and His Stooges en 1932 por anstataŭigi sian fraton Shemp Howard. Lia unua filmo kun Ted Healy and His Stooges estis Nertsery Rhymes (1933), sekvita de Beer and Pretzels (1933), reĝisorita de Jack Cummings.
