On the occasion of Women’s History Month 2016, Writing Middle Eastern Women into History Initiative (WMWH) is launching Wiki-Women-Middle East, a series of Wiki Edit-a-thon gatherings around the globe to add profiles of Middle Eastern women cultural and social art practitioners to Wikipedia.

Event details

While volunteer editors can join this ongoing collective effort remotely at their preferred time and space, on Thursday, March 31, 2016, pilot programs will take place in four locations:

  • Location 1: CultureHub, 47 Great Jones St, New York, NY 10012 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm
  • Location 2: Herat WMWH member space 8:00 am – 10:00 am
  • Location 3: Mashhad WMWH member space 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
  • Location 4 – Core Hub: Arab American National Museum, Annex Building, 13624 Michigan Ave, Dearborn, MI 48126 8:00 am – 8:00 pm
    • Profiles of DIWAN Forum's women members will be highlighted and registered to Wikipedia at this location
  • What to bring:Participants should bring their own laptops and power cords
  • Cost: The program is free and open to the public
  • Hashtag: #WHMH2016
