Liz Stooke

Hey, I hope you are doing well 😁 My recent GA review at Liz Stooke is not on pause as the reviewer has been blocked. If you have time time, could you please finish the review? It is a relatively short article so it shouldn't take too much time. DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 15:37, 14 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]

@DaniloDaysOfOurLives: Apologies, I saw your message but had been sidetracked with some other projects in the last week and wanted to wrap that up first. I see this has been returned to the queue, so I can still pick it up. TheDoctorWho (talk) 16:54, 21 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure that's needed; the material was both sourced and linked

Hi TheDoctorWho; Not sure about your revert and copyvio notice. The article for The Madison is just started and under development; I've therefore added a 4-line quoted premise summary from Variety magazine which was linked and fully sourced. I'm not sure where you see a copy via in this case since it was fully sourced, fully quoted, and linked to the original source. ErnestKrause (talk) 03:28, 16 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]

@ErnestKrause: Linking a source does not entitle you to copy and paste large portions of that link's text into a Wikipedia article. This is noted on WP:COPYPASTE, which says "In most cases, you may not copy text from other sources into Wikipedia. Doing so is a copyright violation. Always write the articles in your own words and cite the sources of the article." Similarly, this information is explained in more detail at WP:PARAPHRASE: "Editors should generally summarize source material in their own words, adding inline citations as required by the sourcing policy. Limited close paraphrasing is appropriate within reason, as is quoting, so long as the material does not violate copyrights and is cited [...] Close paraphrasing without in-text attribution may constitute plagiarism, and when extensive (with or without in-text attribution) may also violate Wikipedia's copyright policy, which forbids Wikipedia contributors from copying an excessive amount of material directly from other sources." Copying an entire paragraph and a half from the source text is "excessive" in my opinion. A premise section is essentially general plot that applies to the series overall rather than a specific episode, as noted at MOS:TVPLOT, this should be written in your own words. However, when it is necessary to source it, the associated text should not be excessively copied, nor a close paraphrase. See Marshals for an example of this. List of Heartstopper episodes FLC

Hi TheDoctorWho, thanks again for taking a look at Heartstopper. I’d definitely love your help, and I was actually thinking of starting with List of Heartstopper episodes before tackling the accolades list and then the main article. Would you be willing to take a look and tell me what you think still needs tightening before FLC?

No pressure at all - even just a steer on the biggest likely issues would be hugely appreciated.

Mosherdude91 (talk) 11:31, 3 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]

@Mosherdude91: Apologies, I've been a tad busy lately. Some recommendations for the list from a quick glance:
  • The lead could be expanded. Even with only three seasons the lead should basically encompass everything a reader unfamiliar with the show would need to know to comprehend the list. So a little production information, an expanded premise, and something about how the series has been received.
  • An image for the lead paragraph would also be useful. Despite the series title card being marked as fair use, I can't imagine that it meets the United States TOO. If it does, the wordmark is even less likely to meet it, and could likely be considered in the public domain.
  • I don't know that the citations for the individual episodes are needed. The episode titles appear in each of the episodes title cards themselves and the director/writer in the closing credits, so would likely be covered under the same concept as WP:CITEPLOT/WP:PLOTSOURCE. This is even more evident with the fact those sources are citing the episodes themselves. If they are kept however, they should be moved to the RTitle= field so they don't appear inside the quotation marks. The only thing that does need a citation is the airdates (airdateR= in the tables). Either the citations already in the lead, or something like this would be sufficient.
  • The episode tables also need captions for accessibility reasons (but can be hidden for screenreaders only because they exist directly below the section header).
I believe that's all that jumps out to me on a first pass. List of Stranger Things episodes and List of Cobra Kai episodes would likely be good examples of featured lists I've written from other Netflix series', that both represent most of the above. And like I said, I would be willing to assist in this and take on a co-nomination when the time comes. TheDoctorWho (talk) 17:28, 8 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]

WikiCup 2026 May newsletter

The second round of the 2026 WikiCup ended on 28 April. As a reminder for contestants who just joined or are unaware of recent changes to our round-points system, good article nomination reviews now receive 10 points, an increase from 5 points in the previous year, as per a consensus at WT:CUP. Peer reviews, which continue to be worth 5 points, are now listed in the same section as featured article candidate reviews, rather than with good article reviews. Everyone who competed in round 2 will advance to round 3 unless they have withdrawn or been banned. No other changes to the round-point system have been made for this year.

Round 2 was competitive. Three contestants scored more than 1,000 round points; nine scored over 500; and fourteen scored over 300. The top seven contestants had at least one featured article (two of them with two apiece). The following competitors scored more than 800 round points:

The full scores for round 2 can be seen here. During this round, contestants have claimed 12 featured articles, 13 featured lists, 2 featured-topic articles, 106 good articles, 22 good-topic articles and more than 40 Did You Know articles. In addition, competitors have worked on 3 In the News articles, and they have conducted over 200 reviews. The tournament points table has been updated.

Remember that any content promoted after 28 April but before the start of Round 3 can be claimed in Round 3. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, feel free to review one of the nominations listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! Technical news

  • Changes to user permissions made from Meta are now included in the local user permissions log (T6055).
  • The autoconfirmed user group will soon be modified such that the four-day account age requirement begins when an account makes its first edit (T418484).

Arbitration

  • The arbitration case SchroCat has been opened. Evidence submissions in this case closed on 15 April.
  • Per a recent motion, appeals of blocks from the conflict-of-interest VRT queue are, by default, appealed on-wiki through the normal unblock process. However, they may be heard by the Committee if COIVRTers disagree on the interpretation of the evidence or believe ArbCom would be better suited to hear the appeal. Administrators are also advised that loosening or lifting such blocks without the consent of someone with access to the queue or ArbCom can be grounds for desysopping.
  • Per a recent motion, restrictions issued directly by the Committee may now be enforced with blocks which work exactly like contentious topic blocks.
  • The arbitration case Maghreb has been closed.

New Page Patrol Newsletter - May 2026

Hello TheDoctorWho,

New Page Review queue November 2025 - May 2026

Backlog update

At the time of this message, there are 15,282 articles and 32,951 redirects awaiting review.

After the January–February drive the article backlog was reduced to 15,179 articles and the redirect backlog to 19,053 respectively. Great job! However, both queues are growing rapidly and any additional reviews are highly appreciated.

2024 and 2025 NPP Awards

JTtheOG was selected as the NPP reviewer of the year for both 2024 and 2025, for reviewing the most articles amongst all reviewers.

Hey man im josh and MPGuy2824 won the Redirect Ninja Master Award for 2024 and 2025 respectively, for reviewing the most redirects.

Overall in 2024, one Platinum, two Gold, eight Silver, 12 Bronze and 45 Iron Barnstars were awarded. Additionally, 66 reviewers got the NPP barnstar for doing more than 100 reviews through the year. In 2025, one Platinum, ten Silver, 13 Bronze and 38 Iron Barnstars were awarded. Additionally, 38 reviewers got the NPP barnstar for doing more than 100 reviews through the year.

January–February backlog drive

The experimental two-month long backlog drive concluded with 183 reviewers patrolling over 27,761 articles and 35,309 redirects, earning over 36,836 points. Congratulations to JTtheOG, who achieved first place with 6,484.6 points in this drive.

May backlog drive

An article-only backlog drive is currently underway. We are hoping to make a big dent in the backlog. You can read more about it or join at Wikipedia:New pages patrol/Backlog drives/May 2026.

PageTriage

An attempt was made to get the New Pages Feed to sort by date marked as reviewed instead of date created. However we had to revert it due to bugs. We may try again in the future. You can subscribe to the Phabricator ticket if you're interested in following along.

WIkiProject Doctor Who: April 2026 Newsletter

The Space-Time Telegraph
Volume IV, Issue I — April 2026
Brought to you by the editors of WikiProject Doctor Who

A new newsletter materializing? Quick, help us reverse the polarity of the neutron flow so it can safely land on your talk pages!

Don't be lasagna (because there's a new newsletter to read)

Hello, and welcome to our first 2026 issue of The Space-Time Telegraph. Inside you'll find plenty of information about recent happenings in our little Who corner of Wikipedia. We've also included a plethora of Doctor Who news you may have missed elsewhere in the last few months such as the finding of previously missing episodes, upcoming and recent product releases, a new streaming home for Who across the pond (and even a potential future partnership for new episodes). So what are you waiting for? Go ahead and jump on in!

Into the Vortex! (Of Good and Featured Content)

Since our newsletter last December, the Doctor Who WikiProject has seen a large amount of quality article improvement. So far, 16 Good Articles have been improved this year! We're at about the same pace we were last year, which is always good to see, especially given the twelve other articles nominated for GA status at present. Special shoutouts to users Rhain for their improvements on First Doctor serials, SkywalkerEccleston for their various improvements across a wide variety of articles, Lbal for their work on Full Circle (Doctor Who), and Doomitron for their work on Sixth Doctor.
Additionally, since then, Ice Warrior has been improved to Featured Article status, List of Doctor Who creatures and aliens and List of Doctor Who characters have been improved to Featured List status, and three Good Topics focused on articles relating to the Midnight Entity, the Slitheen, and Doctor Who series 15 have been nominated and approved.
Congratulations to all of the users who have improved quality Doctor Who articles in the past few months!

A flabbergasting discovery

In March, it was announced that episodes 1 ("The Nightmare Begins") and 3 ("Devil's Planet") of The Daleks' Master Plan were found by the charity Film is Fabulous! in a private collection among some films. The collector gave them permission to have them and sadly passed away not long after. Upon learning of the discovery through Toby Hadoke, actor Peter Purves, who starred in the episodes alongside William Hartnell and Adrienne Hill, said "My flabber has never been so gasted". The episodes were shown at a BFI screening (with Purves in attendance) in April and are now available on BBC iPlayer in the UK and the official Doctor Who Classic YouTube channel in the US. This means that episodes 1, 2, 3, 5 and 10 of The Daleks' Master Plan are now available.
It has been hinted that more could be found in the near future as 95 episodes remain missing.

Intelligence Bulletin from the Subwave Network

  • The 1996 American-produced Doctor Who television film was remastered in 4K using the original film reels for a Blu-ray release this May. The restored version includes both the UK and U.S. broadcast versions and new special features.
  • Big Finish Productions recently extended their contract with the BBC to continue licensing the Doctor Who franchise intellectual property for audio stories through 2035. The first new production to be confirmed following this announcement, is a fifteen-part box set featuring David Tennant set to begin releasing bimonthly next year.
  • In February, the First Doctor serial The Rescue was published on vinyl record as a special release for Record Store Day in the United Kingdom.
  • Circuit Breaker, a new multi-platform story starring Jo Martin as the Fugitive Doctor was announced by BBC Studios to launch this June. Spanning audio, books, comics, games, magazine, internet, and Blu-ray releases, tells a singular interconnected story about UNIT's Black Archive across several mediums.
  • Seventeen years after its last release, Character Options is releasing a new five-part set of Doctor Who figures beginning in July.
  • In the United States, AMC+ has secured rights to be the exclusive streaming video on demand host of all 2005–2022 Doctor Who episodes. This era of Who has been unavailable to stream in the States since its removal from HBO Max in July 2025. Noticeably absent from press releases are mention of spin-off series Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures; while these shows have historically been packaged with this era of Who in streaming deals on HBO Max, before that on Amazon Prime Video, as well as Netflix and Hulu in the ancient days, there is no confirmation if these will be included. Elsewhere in America, Classic Who has it's own streaming home on BritBox (yes, BritBox still exists on this side of the pond), while the 60th anniversary specials and Gatwa's era remain on Disney+ for the foreseeable future. Disney has also yet to release The War Between the Land and the Sea, a five-part miniseries previously marketed by the company as releasing outside of the UK and Ireland in "early 2026". There is also no news on where, if anywhere, future episodes of Who will air or stream in the United States (or elsewhere worldwide, for that matter); however, AMC Global Media (the owner of AMC+) owns BBC America, which it regularly licenses BBC content for and was the linear broadcaster of Who from 2009–2022, and a non-controlling ownership stake in BritBox. AMC+ was also previously the next-day streamer of Who episodes during the Jodie Whittaker/Chris Chibnall-era as a transitional period between their broadcast on BBC America and release on HBO Max. Given this, and the global reach of AMC+, it's a feasible home for future new episodes and even the rumored potential of a co-production deal to fill the funding deficit left by Disney.
