Cute snail table!
Hi II52tt52, I love the table you posted on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Gastropods. Can I use it in my userpage?
Also, I noticed you had your draft for the Zaptyx genus declined twice. Let me know if you want some help, we can work on it together if you like :)
Snaily regards, Barbalalaika 🐌 12:13, 21 May 2026 (UTC)
- I need help! T_T

- snail table....
- Feel free to use it as much as you want!
- I'm also making a sea slug version. I'll upload it when I make it. II52tt52 (talk) 23:16, 21 May 2026 (UTC)
- Snail table: thank you <3
- Zaptyx: I'll focus on rewording obvious AI sentences. I personally see no problem in using AI to help writing articles as long as the original writing comes from the editor and AI just polishes it. We still need to scrutinise what it says, especially since it's prone to embellishing ("species-rich") and tautology ("complex taxonomic history with numerous synonyms. As a result, species within this group are frequently recorded under various synonymous generic or subgeneric names in scientific literature." - that's a lot of words for saying Zaptyx has many synonyms. And what gastropod doesn't have a complex taxonomy?).
- I added some templates where a citation needs to support the sentence. Would be good if you found something, otherwise the statements need to be removed. Barbalalaika 🐌 15:12, 23 May 2026 (UTC)
- I added a reference, is this enough? Thank you so much for your help. II52tt52 (talk) 00:09, 25 May 2026 (UTC)
- Hey, I'm so sorry for disappearing. Real life got in the way. You put a lot of work in that article! I'll do some more editing on Wednesday but I feel like you can submit it after I'm done. I'll let you know. Sorry again for disappearing Barbalalaika 🐌 11:28, 2 June 2026 (UTC)
- I added a reference, is this enough? Thank you so much for your help. II52tt52 (talk) 00:09, 25 May 2026 (UTC)
- I've added "general characteristic"s to Zaptyx as originally described by Pilsbry. This text is public domain and can be used in wikipedia. If you omit the section "description"(probably from AI), then the draft will most probably be accepted. JoJan (talk) 14:31, 2 June 2026 (UTC)
- THANK YOU!!!! II52tt52 (talk) 14:46, 2 June 2026 (UTC)
- @II52tt52 I reworded the distribution section and removed two stray links which were under the references. I ran into difficulty confirming the following references:
- 1. Minato, Hiroshi (1994). Clausiliidae of Japan. Wakayama, Japan: Minato. pp. 1–212 (it's supporting species diversity being highest in Japan, Taiwan, and Philippines)
- 2. Nordsieck, Hartmut (2007). Worldwide Door Snails (Clausiliidae), recent and fossil. Hackenheim: ConchBooks. ISBN 978-3939767077. (supporting how Zaptyx has numerous synomyms.)
- I didn't find number 1 at all and I did find number 2 but don't have access to it. For both, can you provide the relevant snippets?
- Barbalalaika 🐌 17:22, 3 June 2026 (UTC)
- ' ~';;
- Hi, thanks again for your help!
- Regarding the references I used (Minato 1994 and Nordsieck 2007), they are physical print books. Unfortunately, there are no online versions or full-text PDFs available for either of them, which is why I cannot provide direct text snippets or links for verification.
- It’s a 1976 paper discussing the anatomy of Tyrannozaptyx (a genus closely related to/associated with Zaptyx) from the Yaeyama Islands in Okinawa. II52tt52 (talk) 02:02, 4 June 2026 (UTC)
- Fair enough. If you ever want to submit an article for e.g., WP:GAN, you'll probably have to provide the specific snippet supporting the claims (a photo/scan, or paraphrasing the section). I'll take your word. I'd say you can resubmit the article now! Barbalalaika 🐌 09:00, 4 June 2026 (UTC)

- The link has been cut. This is the only text you can view for free. II52tt52 (talk) 13:40, 4 June 2026 (UTC)

- @JoJan That's not AI. I had written most of that section... I based myself off Pilsbry's original description and reworded for the lay reader. What could I have done differently so that it can be put back up? Barbalalaika 🐌 19:19, 2 June 2026 (UTC)
- First of all, an original description is a definition. That's the starting point. The slightest change or rewording may result in describing a taxon different but alike. One may polish the original definition by adding verbs and articles so that it becomes a fluid narrative. For this one can eventually use AI (but always check afterwards). The best thing to do is adding wikilinks in the article, referring to the article explaining the meaning of the word, as I have done with whorl, lamella, apex etc. JoJan (talk) 13:32, 3 June 2026 (UTC)
