The article Dinesh Weerakkody srilanka has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, all newly created biographies of living persons must have at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Dinesh Weerakkody srilanka requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ⁓ Hello71 16:46, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

For legal reasons, you must not copy material into Wikipedia, not even into talk pages or sandboxes: please read Wikipedia:Copy-paste, and for more detail Wikipedia:Copyrights#Contributors' rights and obligations. Just asserting permission to use content is not enough. It is essential to make a formal copyright release as described above, in order to be sure that the person releasing the text has the authority to do so, and that the actual copyright holder understands and agrees to Wikipedia's license terms, which allow readers to copy, modify and re-use for any purpose including commercial.

It is not often worth making a copyright release, because material written for other purpose often has a promotional tone unsuitable for an encyclopedia article, which requires a neutral point of view. Wikipedia is not a notice-board for pinning up press releases; better to write an article in your own words.

Moreover, simply copying in the content of a press release will not provide the references showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject" which are needed to establish the WP:Notability required for a Wikipedia article.

There is more detail at WP:Notability (people), and good advice on how to write an acceptable article at WP:Your first article.

The right title for this article would be simply "Dinesh Weerakkody" - no need to add "Srilanka". Regards, JohnCD (talk) 17:10, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
