Colenso's essay on N.I. Flora
Hi, just discovered that there is no print page 7 in the scan for commons:File:Essay on the botany of the North Island of New Zealand.pdf. Was this missed in the scanning process or did the printed copy skip it? Beeswaxcandle (talk) 06:56, 18 January 2025 (UTC)
- There were some redactions in the scanning process, but this may have been simply missed! Will follow-up and see if I can find the original scans before uploading to BHL - thanks for bringing to my attention. Dactylantha (talk) 19:50, 19 January 2025 (UTC)
- Update! Colenso missed the page, not us! Jack of all trades... Dactylantha (talk) 20:24, 20 January 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks. I've adjusted the page list on the Index: in Wikisource to compensate. Beeswaxcandle (talk) 07:17, 21 January 2025 (UTC)

I did it
(Hopefully I've found the right person) I cleaned up my code, extracted it into a Jupyter notebook and published to Github. I also took the chance to make some improvements to speed up the processing quite considerably, and fixed some bugs. I really wish I'd used this version for my parks project because it fixes some stuff that ended up costing me a lot of time.
If you have any suggestions or enhancements please let me know!

Hello. You're invited to participate in The World Destubathon. We're aiming to destub a lot of articles and also improve longer stale articles. It commenced yesterday on Monday June 16 and will run until Sunday July 13. There is over $3300 going into it, with $500 the top prize. If you are interested in winning something to save you money in buying books for future content, or just see it as a good editathon opportunity to see a lot of articles improved for subjects which interest you, sign up on the page in the participants section if interested. Even if you can only manage a few articles they would be very much appreciated and help make the content produced as diverse and broad as possible! Feel free to invite others who you think might want to contribute.♦ Dr. Blofeld 09:19, 17 June 2025 (UTC)

BHL Commons template and Lua
Hi ya, I've had some further thoughts on this and just want to make sure you've got the links you need to have a bit more of a deep dive on this. This is a copy of the BHL minimum image data model which I use for editing SDC in OpenRefine. And here is the BHL image template. Finally I've had a bit of a fossick around for other Lua based templates and have found this list (which you may very well be familiar with). I'm seriously considering using the information template for any uploads of BHL images I make in the future. I'll add in the Template:Biodiversity Heritage Library as well to make sure the file ends up in the catch all BHL commons category Files from the Biodiversity Heritage Library.
I do have one OpenRefine question though about structured data. What do you do if you want to remove SDC statements? I'm thinking of creative copyright license statements when the image is in the public domain. Do you have any resources on how to do this via OpenRefine as I've seen videos and documents relating to adding SDC or bulk uploading with SDC up 'til now. This seems such a simple question but I can't seem to find an answer! Ambrosia10 (talk) 19:51, 17 August 2025 (UTC)
- Kia ora!
- Referencing the {{Information}} module as basis for some module boilerplate to accompany Lua-type templating: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Module:Information#com-module-code, just need to test really so with your good grace I might make a draft BHL template, see if it works and then overwrite the current BHL template once we have finetuned. In all honesty the previous BHL template looks a little out of date and incomplete with documentation regardless of the structured data, so we can give a spruce with your (and User:TiagoLubiana 's?) guidance.

Patu in Wikidata
Hi Dactylantha!
It was great to meet you in Milan, and I hope you enjoyed a bit of extra time in Italy!
I translated the article about the patu to Dutch this morning, and noticed there might be some more work needed on the Wikidata item. Our articles mention different usages for patu (weapon, kitchen, weaving), but the Wikidata item only knows the patu as a weapon, and also all the different kinds of patu seem to have not been listed in the database. I am not sure I have a complete overview yet, good enough to map the related Wikidata items, but maybe you or some one else on the enwp does? Ciell (talk) 09:03, 14 May 2026 (UTC)
