Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Regarding your recent edits to Eamon Broy when you modified the page, you introduced unknown parameters. Just because you specify |some_param=some_variable does not always mean that variable will display. The |some_param= must be defined in the template. You can look at the documentation for the template you are using but it is also helpful to use the preview button before you save your edit; this helps you find any errors you have made and ensure that the values you have added are displaying correctly. Below the edit box is a Show preview button. Pressing this will show you what the page will look like without actually saving it. It is strongly recommended that you use this before saving. Note I have likely fixed the error by now so check the history of the page to see how it was fixed. If you have any questions, contact the help desk for assistance. Thank you. I genuinely can't see what the difference between that version and File:NK Zagreb 041 logo.png is supposed to be. Can you explain it? CeltBrowne (talk) 21:08, 8 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Davy Byrne

CB, would Davy Byrne, famous vintner and namesake of the pub, meet notability? His name already redirects to the article about the pub. I've seen that you have created or contributed to historical figures of Ireland, so just wanted to know. APM (talk) 19:59, 8 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there APM; Doing a quickly search, while I see some articles online, they're all more or less tied to the pub rather than Davy himself. I would suggest you'll be more likely to successfully add information about Davy in a "History" subsection of the Davy Byrne's pub article then trying to create a separate Davy Byrne article. Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Hasan Piker. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continued disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you. - R9tgokunks 15:39, 30 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Disruptive removals and edits of Template:Democratic Socialism US that you nominated for deletion

Noticing that you are going on a personal crusade to remove a template that you yourself nominated for deletion, even going so far as to revert edits to it. This is incredibly disruptive editing and it could appear as verging on potential WP:NPOV violations. This has never been the protocol on Wikipedia. Templates stay up whilst being discussed as it makes it less likely for involved editors to see the discussion or be aware that the specific template is under discussion for deletion. Please revert all of your edits removing the template from articles as you removed it from (I count at least 8). - R9tgokunks 15:49, 30 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah I would concur. You're jumping the gun here in a bit of an alarming way. You can wait until after the deletion discussion closes to delete the template that is the subject of the deletion discussion. Simonm223 (talk) 15:50, 30 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Hi there,
I take the point but I don’t think you needed to use a warning label, particularly “unconstructive edits” template to do it. From my point of view, having three ideology sidebars on one article is overkill/unconstructive, and it seemed to me that the user was duplicating the sidebar heavily by adding the new one but not removing the older one on several articles. This came up before recently on English Wikipedia regarding a “Far Right politics in the US” sidebar that was deleted on the grounds that it overlapped too much with other sidebars such as the Christian Nationalism in the US sidebar. I simply felt the same standard should be kept across ideology sidebars, it’s not a “personal crusade”. I take it (genuinely) that you’re acting in good faith, so if you wouldn’t mind, please also WP:AGF rather than stating I’ve a personal axe to grind in relation to decide/edits I’m making. Replaceable non-free use File:Nancy Toffoloni, circa 1994.png

Thanks for uploading File:Nancy Toffoloni, circa 1994.png. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of non-free use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of non-free use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable non-free use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable non-free use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file's talk page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

This is an automated notification. Please refer to the page's history for further information. DatBot (talk) 00:41, 23 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Harry "the Hermit" Hallowes.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file from a commercial source (e.g. Associated Press, Getty Images), where the file itself is not the subject of sourced commentary. If you can explain why the file can be used under the non-free content guidelines, please add the appropriate non-free use tag and rationale.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Help with photo of Charlie Daly

Hello CeltBrowne I am trying to add a photo to the page for Charlie Daly. Ive found photos on sites like RTE (Hurled into eternity: after the executions) and The Irish Story (Today in Irish History, The execution of the “Drumboe Martyrs”, 14 March 1923) but I have no idea on how to correctly add one. Can you let me know if it is possible and if so, what is the proper format? Thanks in advance. Palisades1 (talk) 17:28, 6 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Palisades1;
You would need to upload them to Wikimedia Commons under a PD-Ireland-anon license, if the photographer is truly unknown. You could use a file like File:Muriel MacSwiney, 1920.jpg as a template for how to do it. When you're asked what liscense you're uploading your Daly images under, you could copy-paste the Irish license from the MacSwiney file. CeltBrowne (talk) 17:53, 6 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks very much I will give it a try. Palisades1 (talk) 19:16, 6 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]
