Hello there! My name is Xinxin Tang (LinkedIn URL: http://www.linkedin.com/in/xinxin-tang), and welcome to my Wikipedia user page!

In August 2023, I earned my Ph.D. in atomic, molecular, and optical physics from the University of Washington, where I spent six years developing and leading experiments in ultracold atoms, lasers, and optical systems.  My research has been published in top journals including Nature Physics and Physical Review X, and has strengthened my foundation in experimental design, data analysis, and system-level problem solving.

I’m now a Display Metrology System Engineer at Apple, where I lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced optical metrology systems for calibrating and validating next-generation display modules.  My work spans the full engineering lifecycle—from defining specifications and architecting hardware systems to developing calibration methodologies, managing vendors, and analyzing large-scale NPI data to drive performance improvements in mass production.

Previously, I was an Optical Metrology Engineer at OptoFidelity, contracted onsite at a major AR/VR tech company. I built custom test systems for AR displays, developed algorithms and metrics for image quality and stray light analysis, and authored image processing libraries in Python to support fast-paced prototyping cycles.

Before moving into industry, my academic research focused on ultracold atomic gases of ytterbium and lithium in ultra-high vacuum environments, where I used lasers and magnetic fields to cool atoms to nearly absolute zero and probe many-body quantum phenomena.  This work contributed to a deeper understanding of quantum transport, Feshbach resonances, and dynamical localization in strongly interacting quantum systems.

I am passionate about building precise, scalable optical systems that bridge design intent and measurable outcomes, and I enjoy solving interdisciplinary problems at the intersection of optics, data, and hardware.  Beyond my professional work, my interests span math, physics, quantum information science and technology, logic, philosophy, and more. I have also been actively editing Wikipedia since November 2018 and value any sincere and constructive suggestions and advice.

I welcome opportunities to connect with engineers and scientists who are pushing the boundaries of visual and quantum technologies.
