Splashback

Introduction

Splashback is a term that is used when faeces makes contact with the water within a toilet and causes the water to travel upwards and hit the persons anus.

History

The term 'Splashback' comes from the latin word 'splashos' which means water traveling upwards. The term became frequently more used when the toilet was invented.

Problems

Although when splashback occurs it usually cleans the anus making no need to wipe ones anus. However in a modern world with droughts people need to conserve water and in many countries people live by the phrase 'if it's yellow it's mellow, if it's brown flush it down.' This has caused many people and families to leave their urine sit in the bowl of their toilet. This is a concern for many people as when they jettison their waste it cause not only the water but the urine to travel upwards to the persons anus.
