Story Plot

Summary of Story: Bob is building a laugh machine that will take away kid's laugh and turn it into gold. After finishing the machine, he captures two kids, Billy and Sue. Billy is taken to the laugh machine and just as his laugh will be taken away, Sue tells Bob that taking away someone's laugh is like taking away happiness. Bob lets Billy and sue leave, and is about to destroy his laugh machine when Sue tells him of a better idea for the laugh machine. Instead of taking laughs, it will give laughs to unhappy kids. The book ends with a picture of lots of happy kids laughing.

Exposition: Bob is shown in his laboratory. He says his name and it shows him finishing a machine and laughing evilly.

Rising action: Bob captures Billy and Sue and takes them to his laboratory. He tells them his machine is a laugh machine and it will capture their laughs and turn it into gold.

Climax: Billy is taken to get his laugh taken away when Sue tells Bob that laughs should never be taken away.

Falling action: Bob lets them both go. He is about to destroy the laugh machine, but Sue tells Bob she has a better idea for the laugh machine.

Resolution: The story ends with Sue and Bob talking about how the laugh machine gives laughs instead of taking them away.
