Antonio Guna Insigne

Antonio Guna Insigne is currently a Clinical Immunohematology Faculty Lecturer and Lab Instructor at San Francisco State University, part of the California State University system.[1] He is a Specialist in Blood Banking and holds a Master of Science in Transfusion Medicine (MSTM) from the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston [2] where he received the Edgar and Grace Gnitzinger Endowed Scholarship and was inducted into the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS).[3] He also holds a California State Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license.[4]

Career Highlights San Francisco State University: Currently teaches Clinical Laboratory Science courses, including CLS 702[5] and CLS 709,[6] and is profiled as a faculty member.[7]

UCSF Health Transfusion Service: Former Clinical Laboratory Scientist-Specialist.[8]

American Red Cross: Previous Immunohematology Reference Laboratory Technologist, engaged in advanced immunohematology and resolving complex serological cases.[9]

Credential Story” contest.[10][11] Recipient of the UCSF Health Clinical Lab Champions “Bright Idea” Award.[12] Featured in AABB News in 2019 as part of the Professional Engagement Program (PEP) Volunteer Spotlight. Professional Involvement AABB: Serves as lead/sole assessor for AABB assessments and AABB-CAP coordinated inspections, and is an active committee member in various programs.[13] His professional engagement with AABB is also reflected in his conference profiles and presentations.[14][15]

CBBS CLS Committee: Former Co-chair and current appointed member.[16] His involvement was highlighted at the CBBS 2023 Annual Business Meeting.[17]

Invited Speaker: Antonio has been an invited speaker, faculty, moderator, or panelist for various prestigious organizations, including the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP),[18] California Blood Bank Society (CBBS), California Association for Medical Laboratory Technology (CAMLT),[19] PAMET-USA,[20] and Kaiser Permanente Continuing Education for Laboratory Professionals.[21] He has also spoken at the University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital MTSI, Centro Escolar University, St. Dominic College, and PAMET-Philippines.[22]
