The International Journal of Bilingual Education and Bilingualism is a peer-reviewed academic journal published by Taylor and Francis. The journal publishes on high-impact research and book reviews that speak directly to questions in bilingualism and bilingual education. The IJBEB has an impact factor of 2.620 (2018), and ranks number 9/184 in SSCI (Linguistics) and 30/243 (Education & Educational Research). [1]

IJBEB began with the publication of four issues a year (except 1998 when there were two Issues)[2]. The number of high quality articles accepted for publication grew, and in 2001, the IJBEB began publishing six Issues a year. As explained in an Editorial by Collin Baker in 2005 (Volume 8, no 6, p. 505) by this year the journal had tripled in size. In 2020, the IJBEB was publishing 10 issues a year.

The IJBEB is multidisciplinary and focuses on all aspects of bilingualism and bilingual education. Theoretical and conceptual analysis, foundational and applied research using qualitative and quantitative approaches, critical essays, as well as comparative book reviews. Contributions from varied disciplines are welcome, including, but not limited to linguistics, sociology, psychology, education, law, women’s studies, history and economics, informatics. [3]

According to the Journal Citation Reports, the journal has a 2018 impact factor of 2.620.
