VICTOR “KIDKOI” VILDOSOLA | RECORD PRODUCER, GUITAR PLAYER, DJ.
Victor “KID KOI” Vildosola hails from La Serena, Chile. A naturally talented guitarist, at age 10 he picked up the classic guitar and hasn’t put it down ever since. By 13, he earned recognition in Santiago de Chile’s local music scene through high school festival performances with his band, and by age 15, he was opening concerts for nationally renowned rock artists, such as La Pozze Latina and Los Tetas, with his original songs.
As his passion for music intensified, he dedicated himself wholly to developing his craft under the mentoring of Master Jorge Vidal, a GIT graduate and distinguished player and professor in Projazz Music Academy, with whom he studied the electric guitar. His incessant pursuit of musical growth later led him to study Audio Engeneering at Vicente Perez Rosales University (VIPRO) and Professional Electric Guitar under Ciro Vega at the Modern School of Music.
Throughout his university career, he performed as a session guitarist for multiple bands on the Chilean music scene. In one such stint with the group SIEN, he opened for one of the most well known Argentinean rock bands, Soda Stereo, in their last concert at Chile’s National Stadium, performing for a crowd of over 70,000 people.
That same year he debued as the official guitarist for national Hip-Hop pioneers, La Pozze Latina. In early 1999, the group released their third studio album, Desde el Mundo de los Espejos, co-produced by La Pozze Latina and Colin Wolf (Dr.Dre, NWA, Madonna, TLC, Michael Jackson), published by the multinational BMG. The album received critical acclaim and caught mainstream attention with the single "Chica Eléctrica" and the Ruben Blades cover, "Pedro Navaja”. This launched KID KOI’s production credits, which now include a repitoire of several dozen works.
In 2000, he recorded and co-produced the remake of the classic hit "Corazones Rojos" by Los Prisioneros, one of the most influentinal bands in Chile’s history.
In 2001, he received a National Fondart Arts Award to co-produce the double Hip-Hop album Joyas del Barrio, a compilation that includes 21 songs over 2 albums, featuring different artists from all over Chile.
From 2004 to 2005, he joined La Pozze Latina’s line-up of MC’s in addition to becoming the band’s formal musical producer, through which he, along with La Pozze Latina founder and Chilean Hip-Hop legend, Hernan Del Canto, produced, composed, and recorded the never-released album, Evidence.
In 2008, KID KOI formed the group Tranki, a personal project through which he acted as the frontman, guitarist and producer, and released his first solo album, Sin Filtro. That year he released singles and video clips for the songs "24 Horas" and "Resplandor".
In 2010, he released another album with Tranki entitled, It’s On!, which earned the group notoriety on the alternative scene in Santiago and gave them access to perform in some of the city’s largest and most historic venues.
Tranki allowed KID KOI the creative license to fuse together different genres with electronic music, ultimately leading to a new project in collaboration with the renowned drummer, Abraham Yussef, called Preachers In Armani. The innovative project featured a DJ performing with live instruments like acoustic drums, electric guitar, percussions and keyboards, which took the group on several national tours.
In 2012, he moved to Mexico City to study at the SAE Institute, one of the most prestigious schools of music in the world. There, he received 2 certifications as a music producer: one as a Trainer in Ableton Live – one of the most used Digital Audio Workstations among musicians to date – and another in AVID Pro Tools , the standard Digital Audio Workstation of the music and film industries.
That same year, KID KOI collaborated with two female artists: Mariel Mariel and Niña Dioz. With Mariel Mariel, a famous Chilean musician based in Mexico City with 3 LPs under her belt, he worked as a guitarist and beatmaker, and in 2013, he produced the beats for her 2013 EP entitled, Foto Pa Ti. Together they performed in countless venues throughout Mexico City.
With Niña Dioz, he served as the musical director for her band and toured with her all over Mexico, performing at the country’s largest music festivals in Guadalajara, Veracruz, Monterrey, and other cities, in addition to the United States (L.A, Miami, New York, Philadelphia).
