Eliminator è l'ottavo album in studio del gruppo musicale statunitense ZZ Top, pubblicato nel marzo del 1983 dalla Warner Bros. Records. Si tratta del maggior successo commerciale della band, con oltre 10 milioni di copie vendute e la certificazione di disco di diamante negli Stati Uniti.[1]

L'album è stato inserito nella classifica di Rolling Stone dei 500 migliori album di tutti i tempi, alla posizione numero 389.[2]

Il disco

Gli ZZ Top vollero sperimentare ulteriormente l'utilizzo dei sintetizzatori introdotto nel loro precedente album El Loco (1981). Le tracce di Eliminator furono dunque prodotte combinando sintetizzatori, drum machine e sequencer al classico stile blues rock del gruppo. Ciò permise all'album di tramutarsi in un enorme successo commerciale, aiutato anche dai videoclip dei singoli Gimme All Your Lovin', Sharp Dressed Man e Legs che finirono in heavy rotation su MTV. L

he band wanted to expand on the synthesizer sound of their 1981 record El Loco. Influenced by new wave, Eliminator′s tracks were recorded with a combination of the synthesizer, drum machine and sequencer. The album used music videos as successful promotional tools — the videos for "Gimme All Your Lovin'", "Sharp Dressed Man" and "Legs" all received regular rotation on MTV and helped the band gain popularity with a new younger teenage fan base. A customized 1930s Ford coupe, depicted on the album cover, could be seen in the videos. Following Eliminator′s release, ZZ Top embarked on a worldwide concert tour.
