Papa vs Pretty are a young three-piece rock band from Sydney, Australia. The band is made up of Tom Rawle (Lead Vocals, Guitar, Keyboards), Gus Gardiner (Bass, Cello), and Tom Myers (Drums, Backing Vocals). Papa vs Pretty's sound has been described as 'Soaring, beat-afflicted Post-Gaze New-Wave'[1]. Perhaps the band's most notable stylistic feature is the inconsistency of genre within and between their songs: "I don’t try and constrict any genres... I don’t think one should restrict their sound just to make it consistent," Rawle says [2]. The band has become known in Sydney particularly for their exciting live performances. [3] During 2008 the band released an EP which experienced substantial airplay on Sydney community radio station FBi Radio[4] as well as airplay on national broadcaster Triple J[5]. The EP also received the award for Outstanding Indie Release at the 2008 "Noisies" Alternative Music Awards[6].
