Fausto Yuri Vinces Pastorino (age 49) Born in Mexico City , April 3, 1968 Climber, mountaineer, trauma and acute care surgeon. Fausto was born from Peruvian parents living in Mexico City while his father was studying for his Ph.D at the UNAM. The family back moved to Lima, Peru, later on that year after the conclusion of his father studies. EARLY YEARS He grew up in monterrico, a suburb of Lima, his childhood was as he describes, "the best childhood a kid could had have", surrounded by friends and family. He grew up with three brothers and a sister. His passion and obsession during those years was soccer and every summer he participated in a tournament organized by his Catholic Church. On his teen age years, he discovered mountaineering and climbed many mountains in the cordillera Blanca, Yauyos, Central and Raura. His greatest climb was the southwest face of Rajuntay when he was 18 years old, a difficult and well known mountain in the cordillera central in Lina. This achievement was completed with climbers of the CMAT, a local climbing club. USA In 1989, he moved to the United States to finish college and medical school. In 1996, he graduated and started his general surgery residency at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. In 2002, he completed his Trauma and Surgical Critical Care fellowship at Lincoln Medical Center in the Bronx, NY.
