Neverdaunt:8Bit
Neverdaunt:8Bit is a Sandbox MMO Adventure Game that is currently in Beta, developed by Calvin "Aion" Goble. Neverdaunt:8Bit(N8) is a world that is ever changing and each players experience is not predestined. The landscape of N8 is shaped by its players as they compete for control over areas & build, protect, and destroy. There are no character classes or levels, the Power-up you choose & your knowledge define your abilities. There are no preset quests, you can choose your own goals, allowing you to play and create without restriction. The ability for mischief & teamwork enable personalities to play a large role in game experience. There are special blocks you wire and command, monsters, unique weapons to battle over, and unexpected visits from plot driving APC's. The game encourages users to contribute creatively, along with the game comes a modeling program and an animating program, both written alongside the game.
Gameplay
Players start out with a sword and shield, and a small handful of tokens.
N8 implements a variety of unusual game mechanics. Actor player characters(APC's),played by real people, they progress the storyline instead of the standard NPC's. This allows individual players the ability to alter and truly take part in events. The world is a grid of user controlled areas called cells. Each cell has a permanent "shrine" that allows a player to control various aspects of the cell. Cells can generate tokens, the in game currency, which is used to buy useful items. players accumulate Xpoints over time by simply being in the game, Xpoints will level up shrines giving players options to further protect that cell.
The Maker
Calvin uses his own 3D modeling program to make the items for the game, and gives it with the game so players can make and submit hats, weapons, monsters, and blocks. If the items are approved they are added into the world.
Music
Instead of a looping sound track, there are a selection of 8-bit Radio stations you can tune in to ingame.
Development
Neverdaunt:8Bit is the Debut game for RobotLovesKitty and was conceptualized and designed single-handedly by founder Calvin "Aion" Goble, an artist and self taught programmer. Calvin dedicated all of his time over the past few years to create the world that he has always wanted to play in. With its numerous game elements that few large game companies would risk, such as live "Actor Player Characters" to guide a continual storyline, Calvin has a rather different take on what an MMO can be like, and has much more planned for the future of Neverdaunt:8Bit. The game is In October of 2010 Neverdaunt transitioned from being hosted on Calvin's humble home DSL line, to being hosted by DX ,A provider dedicated to the game industry [1]
