Jung Ahyeon (Korean: 정아현; born April 11, 2007), known professionally as Ahyeon (Korean: 아현), is a South Korean singer, dancer, and rapper.[2] She is one of the members of the South Korean girl group, Babymonster, which debuted under YG Entertainment on April 1, 2024.[3]
Early life and education
Ahyeon was born on April 11, 2007 in Chuncheon, Korea Selatan, in a family consisting of her parents and a younger brother.[4][5][6] She went to Seonglim Elementary School and Daeryong High School, and later accepted to study at Hanlim Entertainment Arts High School.[6][4]
Career
Pre-debut
At first, Ahyeon was accepted into JYP Entertainment in 2017 at 11 years old, and later she passed her first audition for YG Entertainment.[2] In February 2018, she joined YG Entertainment.[2]
On December 30th, 2022, YG Entertainment released a poster annoucing plans to debut a new girlgroup.[7]
On January 1st, 2023, the name of the group was confirmed to be called Babymonster through a YouTube video titled "YG Next Movement".[8] In the video, Ahyeon was seen to be training, seemingly confirming her status as a part of the group.
On January 16th, 2023, Ahyeon was introduced as the second member of Babymonster after being selected by YG in the results of Last Evaluation.[9]
On November 15th, 2023, Ahyeon was announced to have pulled out from Babymonster due to health issues, while Babymonster would debut as sextet on November 27th.[10][11] Despite that, YG later confirmed that Ahyeon would stay as a member of the group, but would not be involved in debut activities due to health issues.
2024-present
On January 25th, 2024, YG announced that Ahyeon had fully recovered from her health issues and would debut in April with the rest of Babymonster's members for their mini album, Babymons7er.[12][13] YG later stated that April 1st of 2024 would be Babymonster's official debut date.[14][3]
Pada 1 April 2024, setelah 126 hari debut sebagai kumpulan 6 ahli, Babymonster secara rasminya debut sebagai kumpulan 7 ahli dengan kembalinya Ahyeon ke dalam kumpulan tersebut.[15]
Pada 18 November 2024, U-Pick telah mengumumkan bahawa Ahyeon memenangi tempat pertama dalam kategori Rookie Artist (Wanita) dalam keputusan undian "Pilihan Bulan November", yang telah berlangsung pada 15 November di pelantar peminat globalnya, UPICK.[16]

Endorsmen
Pada Februari 2024, Ahyeon bersama ahli Babymonster yang lain menjadi duta untuk Pepsi di rantau Asia-Pasifik,[18][19] dan sebagai wajah jenama kosmeseutikal milik LG Household & Health Care, CNP Laboratory,[20] untuk bantu mengembangkan bilangan pembeli Generation MZ.[21] Dua bulan kemudian, Ahyeon sebagai Babymonster telah menjadi rakan global Adidas dan menjadi duta melalui koleksi sukannya, Z.N.E.[22][23] Setibanya November, Ahyeon dan ahli Babymonster mengendors kerjasama pertama Adidas bersama Moon Boot, dengan pencipta kandungan dan penulis Perancis-Algeria, Léna Mahfouf.[24]
Pada 2025, Ahyeon dan ahli-ahli Babymonster yang lain dipilih sebagai duta untuk Banila Co.,[25] dan bekerjasama dengan permainan battle royale, PUBG Mobile, untuk ulang tahun ketujuhnya.[26] Mereka juga telah bekerjasama dengan Google untuk kempen "Imagination Studio" di Jepun untuk Google Pixel.[27]
