"One Child At A Time" OCAAT

When we think of a village, every one has an intricate part that they play. OCAAT was created with the village in mind. Our foster children face so many different challenges daily and we must be there to assist them through these difficult times.

“One Child At A Time” was founded in 2007. As Social Workers at that time, Jackie Solomon and Lovette Panthier saw the need to create unique and life-changing experiences for foster youth. With that in mind, “One Child At A Time” was born, events created to allow foster youths the opportunity to meet professional athletes, actors and actress, comedians, radio personalities and local politicians. These O.C.A.A.T. events and fundraisers benefit the Children’s Trust Fund of Los Angeles County, a 45 year-old organization supplying supplemental funding to foster families for critical needs.

Throughout the years, OCAAT has raised funds to be funneled to families for medical, dental, and other services that government funding cannot provide. OCAAT has also given over 300 scholarships for foster youth and helped countless families within the foster care system of Los Angeles County.

The Katt Williams “One Child At A Time” Celebrity Basketball Game was the brainchild of Hilary and Jackie Solomon in 2007. Hilary, Jackie and co-worker Lovette Panthier worked together with a host of volunteers and sponsors to make this idea a reality….

OCAAT short for “One Child At A Time” fundraising events was created to support at-risk youth in the Foster Care System. Proceeds from all of the events will help provide services for more than 36,000 foster children in the Department of Children and Family Services, Children’s Trust Fund and Scholarships for college bound foster youths. More specifically, the money raised will be funneled to families who cannot afford unapproved medical and dental expenses, such as general anesthesiology, orthodontia treatment, summer camps and after school activities not funded by government sources. All your efforts mean so much to these children that will be touched by your good wishes and generosity.

Donations are tax deductible and with your permission, your organization’s name and logo will be included in the event’s press releases, website, and printed materials. Unlike many other non-profit organizations, 100% of funds received by the Trust Fund are used to aid children and families in the foster system. For over 45 years, our Trust Fund has provided a wide range of services and self-development opportunities for the youth served by DCFS in Los Angeles County.
