KidSuper Samba AC is an American amateur football club based in Harlem, New York.

Established in 2017, the club currently operates in the Eastern Premier Soccer League and the Cosmopolitan Soccer League.

In the 2018–19 season, KidSuper Samba AC won the Cosmopolitan Soccer League Division 2 title in its second year of existence, winning both the North group and playoff final, and promotion to Division 1.

In its history, Samba has been represented by six professional players: Karamba Janneh, Arsène Oka, Abdoulaye Diallo,[1] Jermaine Hue, Miguel Bustos,[2] and Omar Sarr,[3] two senior international players: Stephen Whiteman[4] (Grenada) and Jermaine Hue (Jamaica), and players who have represented the following countries at youth international level: United States (Juan David Dominguez, Anthony Flores,[5] and Etan Mabourakh[6]), Haiti (Mark Luxama[7] and Jhonny Theze[8]), Ivory Coast (Arsène Oka[9]), Trinidad & Tobago (Isaiah Melville-Fergusson[10]), Dominica (Kenann Maronie), Senegal (Papa Modou Thioune), and The Gambia (Babucarr Ceesay).

The club plays the vast majority of its home games at Baker Athletics Complex in Manhattan, and holds training sessions just across the Spuyten Duyvil Creek at Coach Horowitz Football Field in the Bronx.

The club operates in conjunction with Harlem-based non-profit organization Soccer Shepherds New York and maintains a relationship with local youth club FC Harlem.

History

KidSuper Samba AC was founded in 2017 as a combination of KidSuper, an art and clothing collective from Brooklyn, and Samba Athletic Club, a local youth club founded in 2016.[11]

Division 2 (2017–2019)

The Samba Boys finished their inaugural season in 2nd place in the North group of Division 2 of the Cosmopolitan Soccer League, but their season ultimately ended in a loss in the division's playoff semifinal round.[12]

On January 16, 2019, Abdoulaye Diallo joined Greek club Apollon Paralimniou FC after spending one season with Samba.[13][14]

In its second season the club was crowned champion of the Cosmopolitan Soccer League Division 2 North group after finishing the regular season in 1st place. The club was promoted to Division 1 after a 5-4 victory over Polonia Gwardia NY in the Division 2 playoff final.[15] Karamba Janneh assisted Abdoulaye Diallo's goal in the 90th minute to win the league title.[16][17]

Division 1 (2019–2020)

Samba began play in Division 1 of the CSL in September 2019. The club's first game in Division 1 was a 1-1 draw with recently crowned Werner Fricker Cup national champions Lansdowne Yonkers FC.[18][19]

On September 21, 2019, Ousman Sillah joined Greek club Pangytheiatikos in the Gamma Ethniki league after two seasons with KidSuper Samba.[20] On September 27, 2019, Abdoulaye Diallo returned for a second season in Greece with Panserraikos FC.[21][22][23][24]

On May 14, 2020, the 2019–20 CSL season was officially canceled due to the COVID-19 crisis.[25]

EPSL (2020–)

In 2020 Samba joined the newly-formed Eastern Premier Soccer League, the first regional scale promotion-relegation league system in United States history.
