Hi, from Fife in Scotland!

I'm a firm believer that Wikipedia should aim to explain and enlighten. By pooling our talents, even the trickiest of subjects should be understandable by anyone.

Sadly, too many editors seek to make articles resemble the dusty old textbooks that the vast majority of the human population find inpenetrable. Perhaps it flatters the editors' egos to make things inaccessible? Perhaps they feel they are the custodians of understanding?

The challenge for Wikipedia should be to blend together material suitable for the casual reader and that which is rigorous and academic. Sadly, I see far too many articles heading in exactly the opposite direction as editors fail to know when to stop.
