Yuri Skatelin (songwriter)

Yuri J Skatelin,(or Yuri Skatelin),is a singer-songwriter,writer,radio personality,music geek,whose musical compositions rose to fame in the music biz after releasing an EP,"Truth Dares to Dream" on February 17th,2015.She is also known for coming up with the title persona of herself,"Atop",back in 2014,and known for her "charming,dark personality,",with a hint of surly cheekiness as well.

Early Life

Yuri Skatelin was born on April 20,2000 in San Francisco.Given a weird look of her,her parents described her as "coming out purple-like,but very curious and brave as well".After she and her 3 siblings were born,they moved to Chicago in 2007,seeking for a better life and making plans for success as well.

She is the oldest and only girl of the family,not to mention the 2nd tallest person,and the only one with a musical desire.

"Music has always been with me.A lot.The first song I heard,was I Write Sins Not Tragedies by Panic! At the Disco.I was 5 years old at the time,and I was like,"Cool.Then after that happened,I started going into the music biz.I loved dancing and singing,and I was exposed to many artists as well growing up.My favorites are F(x),the K-pop band,Panic! At the Disco,Avril Lavigne,Meg Myers,5 Seconds of Summer and so many more.Then after,at the ages of 8,9,and 10,I started singing in choirs,and church onstage as well.I remember standing alone by myself,in front of many people with a mic in hand.It was a great experience as well.",quotes the artist herself.

She never did find out she was a songwriter until age 13,and began writing numerous songs as well.

Beginning of the Industry

Entering freshman year at her high school,Skatelin set out with a plan ahead to achieve musical success.Also,She worked with a close friend,who was an instrumentalist,and had the same ideal as she did.The two bonded pretty good and she made her hit successful gig at the 2014's Winter Gala,hosted at her high school performing the hit songs she wrote only by herself,"Single Gone Viral,","Circus Show,",and "Insanity Exchange." She also took classes at the People's Music School,involved in music theory and choir,which led her to a choir performance and studying guitar after passing all the exams and test needed as well.

After touring her big gigs,she focused on a solo - something she had planned ever since.

Personality

Yuri is a tomboy geek,and loves to write,play volleyball,sleep,listen to music and do other things as well.She's very sensitive and has a passive mode,being the perfectionist that she is today.She is also an introvert,who tends to be by herself most of the time. She loves notebooks and pens,Meg Myers' "Desire",the Korean pop bands,F(x)and EXO-K,shopping and chatting with her mom and close friends,kittens,wolves,and loves to be successful.

Musical Style

"A mix of emo trinity,Meg Myers,Taylor Swift and so much more adds on.It's awesome,",she replies to the Rolling Stone magazine.

How the writing process works:

1).She hears a good song by her favorite artist(s)and a verse'll pop up 2).She'll grab inspiration from almost ANYTHING (good or bad)that inspires her 3).She'll play an instrument,like a piano,and use the notes she played to come up with the song,along with a heck of a good drum beat as well

She's an easygoing,down-to earth kind of girl with a desire for music that lights up the world around her.
