Dr Simon Hale-Ross is a Senior Lecturer in Law. His monograph titled 'Digital Privacy, Terrorism and Law Enforcement: The UK's Response to Terrorist Communication' was published by Routledge on 10th July 2018, with the Foreword having kindly been provided by Lord Carlile of Berriew CBE QC. Simon has also edited a special collection, including a chapter, titled, Terrorism and State Surveillance of Communications', with other chapters being provided by Lord Carlile and other leading experts, published by Routledge May 2019.
His research focuses on global security and cyber security, terrorism, counterterrorism law and policy, terrorist electronic communications, policing and surveillance, international human rights and civil liberties.
Simon is a reviewer for the Taylor and Francis (Routledge) International Journal 'The Law Teacher', and Routledge providing reviews for books on Policing and Surveillance. He is a passionate and dedicated lecturer, focused on learning and teaching, a great believer in modernisation and positive change, and he has often taken the lead on new learning and teaching initiatives, re/writing modules and developing undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
