Established in 2007, Samudayik Sarathi (in English, community charioteer or mobilizer) is a non-partisan non-profit non-governmental organization. Based in Kathmandu, Nepal, the organization is involved in areas such as human rights, democracy, governance, and social justice through right-based approaches.Sarathi is committed to establish a progressive, prosperous, peaceful, and democratic Nepal. Towards this end, Sarathi has set three goals; promote citizens’ participation in democratic process, gender and social equality, and good governance. Sarathi’s current strategic priority involves contributing to institutionalize fundamental rights, implement federalism, empower women and traditionally marginalized community, and strengthen public accountability as envisioned in the new constitution. Along with Nepal’s modernization endeavor, Sarathi envisions growing in stature and becoming the nation’s leading “Think and Do Tank” in the field of democracy, peace and governance in coming five years.

Samudayik Sarathi envisions a democratic, peaceful and prosperous Nepal and to increase democratic participation, reduce social conflict, and empower the traditionally marginalized population is its goal.

Mission: i. To promote social awareness on issues such as human rights and social justice, particularly, among the youth, women, dalits, indigenous, and other minority groups through collaborative planning, community action, and policy advocacy.

ii. To promote child health and development through comprehensive family and community initiative.

iii. To develop a safe and healthy neighborhood for economically marginalized population through social awareness, education and skill development training, and sharing information on employment opportunity.

iv. To promote good governance (accountability and transparency) for a just and prosperous society through collaborative planning, community action, and policy advocacy.

v. To promote peace and democracy through collaborative planning, community action, and policy advocacy. Objective 1. To contribute to Nepal’s democratization process, this includes two sub-objectives: a. Make people aware of the importance of political participation, and b. Encourage people to participate in the political processes. 2.To contribute to peace by addressing social conflict based on race, sex and economy. 3. To contribute to economic prosperity by working towards strengthening good governance related components such as accountability and transparency. Strategies 1. Promulgation of Rights-based approaches to development; 2. Promotion of youth participation in development; 3. Building of an effective coalition and establishing linkages between and among various working partners;
