Simon Kerr is an Irish author, born in Belfast in 1971.

Background

He holds a B.A. in Modern History from The Queen's University of Belfast (1992) and an M.A. in Creative Writing (with Distinction) from Bath Spa University (1997). He has lectured in Creative Writing for 20 years, at Bath Spa University, Reading University, the University of Leeds, and the University of Hull.

He was the founder and director of the Huddersfield Literary Festival (2005-2007) and the founder and director of the Lightship International Literary Prizes (2010 - 2014). Lightship was honored to have Sir Andrew Motion, Hilary Mantel, Cynthia Ozick, Christopher Reid, as patrons and published over 120 new writers from all over the world in 3 anthologies of winners' work.
