Rick Barreras

Rick Bareras was born June 16 1696 to Mother Karen Marie Cookson and father Ernest Richard Barreras Sr. at Grossmont Hospital California.He was left by his mother and father at the age of 6 months with his Great grand mother and father Florence and Stanley Mourning when his mother and father went seperate ways.Being a devout christian his grandmother got him Heavily involved in Christianity He attended general studies at South Bay Christian school and was very active in the Nazarene church "University avenue Church of the Nazarene" later "Mission Valley Church of the Nazarene".

   In 1976 at the age of 7 his mother persuaded him to live with her In Anchorage Alaska, hesitant he obliged and 3 years later North Star Elementry in Anchorage turned him over to the state due to extencive Child abuse, where he was returned to his Great grandmothers care.
   In 1980 he returned to San Diego and began to attend public schools Rowan Elementry, Wilson Jr,High school, and Hoover High School. All was well until first year of tenth Grade when he started attending the Midnight showings at the Kensington Theatre of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" in 1983 at the age of 14 he began to work his way into the cast where he portrayed charecters in shows religously until 1986.
   In fall of 1984 He met guitarist Andre Edwards and formed a band with him and two others entitled "5.0" because of love for the Mustand 5.0 and "we rated about 5.0 on the richter scale. We played 2 songs "Hey Girl" and "Be your Own Man" at O'Farrell Community School in Skyline San Diego for an anti-drug protest and broke up cause the drum and keys went to Minnisota." Later Andre introduced Rick to "T Irie Dread" a local "Pcychadelic punk Funk Funeral Parlor Reggae band" where he still acts as a background singer on occasion.
   School was not taken very seriously and he repeted the 10th grade 3 times. The only class he attended for three years was 7th period Drama where he recieved a 4.0 average over all. at the age of 18 in 1987 he was forced by school staff to discontinue at which time he attended Job Corps of SanDiego Imperial Beach. He recieved his G.E.D. as well as a Welding Certification. 

   In February 1990 Rick joined the U.S. Navy working as a Hull Technician 2nd Class graduating bootcamp on the 4th of July in Great Lakes Wisconsin

Since Exiting the Navy October 1995 Rick found filming oppritunities in San Diego through Tina Real Casting and Background Sandiego working on many aaron Spelling productions. In June of 1996 he responded to a classified ad in the "Reader" requesting all individuals interested in filming a documentry about the Titanic. He went to the St. James Hotel cattle call and was number 2038. By October he was still not cast in the show and called every actor friend he knew, later getting hold of good friend and Magician Achilles and recieved the phone number for production and called Papolta Mexico convinced then he had his own wetsuit and spoke good english, they let attend the entire production. "It is by far the most I have ever learned on a set, we started with 1250 actors and a few Horses and I was lucky to be the last of 16 actors to wrap in the middle of February. It was an absolute privilege to work with the most intelligent film director of all time"

   After leaving San Diego in 1997 to reconsile with his mother in Alaska, he attended the University of Alaska Anchorage whwer he became an active member in the theatre community.
