GEMS COMPANY (ジェムズ カンパニー) is a Japanese female virtual idol group[2]. Produced by Yōsuke Saitō, a game producer of Square Enix, the group debuted in 2018 and is affiliated with DearStage[3]. The characters and motion acts are conducted by ILCA, Inc.[4], and their musics are produced by MONACA[2].

History

In December 2017, Square Enix and DearStage jointly held an audition to recruit girls for voice actresses[5]. Eleven girls (except Nekuto Momomaru) were then selected as the initial members of GEMS COMPANY[6].

In April 2018, Uta Tamane and Hinaka Hoshina independently started live streaming on their own channels of YouTube[6]. Since then, the remaining nine members had also started to live stream and post movies on their respective channels. At this moment, the production company had not been revealed to the public yet.

On August 18, 2018, the producer announced on Niconico Live that they would belong to a virtual idol unit created by Square Enix, and reveled that the group was named GEMS COMPANY. It was also announced that the members would be affiliated with DearStage. A new member was auditioned in September 2018[7], and Nekuto Momomaru consequently joined the group later in the year.

On March 31, 2020, Nadeshiko Hanabishi and Nekuto Momomaru left the group.
